Welcome to The DJ Beginner Course: our 4-week DJ beginner empowering program. This is for you who’s new to DJing and dream of stepping forward on stages (and in life) sharing your unique sound with the world! In FEM FREQ we are all about building YOU as an artist finding your unique frequency rather than just teaching you technique.
For this course you need to bring your own equipment (controller and headphones).
This is your opportunity to playfully channel your inner artist and make a committed promise to yourself to show up and do the work.
“With practice comes mastery” but all you need to do right now is take that first step into the unknown - the rest you can learn with devotion and focus!
And let’s be honest: it can be tough to actually have a dedicated practice at home, especially if you are a beginner and don’t know your way around the controller, where to focus or for what purpose? You maybe even checked out multiple youtube videos and still it feels like somethings missing?

Hands-on Practice: Each week, you’ll dive into focused sessions. We will help you build confidence in the technical aspect, to find your sound and your purpose, stages and direction within DJing.
Expert Guidance: Learn from experienced
DJs who’ve been where you are but longer down the road - they’re here to share their experiences, knowledge, tricks and secrets with you!
Community: Not only will you practice and connect with like-minded women in class you also become part of the FEM FREQ community! A supportive and uplifting environment, where you share talents, learning processes, skills, creative ideas and energy when we meet outside class for workshops, talks, networking, parties and so much more!
Performance Ready: By the end of the course you’ll have the confidence and skills to take the stage and we’ve got just the platform! You have the opportunity to play your very first gig in the restaurant of Flere Fugle !!
Your starter pack
We recommend you to begin your journey with a DDJ-FLX4 controller. You connect it to your laptop and play through Rekordbox.

Taking part in the DJ Beginner Course no prior experience is required. Just a heart beating for music and a beginners mind.
!! IMPORTANT !!
You need to bring your own controller and headphones for the course.We use Rekordbox as our DJ software and Pioneer equipment.
When buying a controller:
1. Make sure it’s Pioneer Equipment
2. We recommend: Pioneer DDJ-FLX4
3. Headphones with AUX cableIf you haven't bought one yet you can rent from us.
- Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 :: 1000,- dkk.
- Pioneer headphones :: 500,- dkk.
Then it will be yours to use throughout the course.

You need to bring your laptop with already installed Rekordbox (free version) which is the common DJ software we use.
IMPORTANT: Bring your controller, headphones + cables. We have speakers.
There will be light snacks, tea & coffee to keep you going but if you need a proper meal bring it yourself.
You’ll have 30 min break. It possible to buy your dinner at Fler Fugle.
There will be breaks here and there as we flow. -

The Course is a 4-week DJ beginner empowering course. We meet once a week in our studio in Copenhagen. Every week has a different topic so you can dive deeply into the craft and expand your toolbox step-by-step in a phase you can actually comprehend.

Founder & Instructor—
Mathilde Alba is the creatrix FEM FREQ DJ collective and the sunday allure SUNRAVE SESSIONS.
She’s known as MISS ALBA performing as a DJ and has been moving many dance floors as an Ecstatic Dance- & Conscious Dance DJ since 2023. In the spring 2024 she made her debut on the Copenhagen underground scene when she played For Haus Sake at Module which led to playing BålKioskFloor at Distortion Ø and CULTUREBOX.
MISS ALBA plays across S*X Temples, Burns, Underground Clubs, Festivals and Ecstatic Dance floors. She is diverse in her sets crafting both ketapop and downtempo/midtempo journeys and slams the clubs with her bouncy, acid-infused peak indie techno. Whatever journey she invites you on there is always a primal sound to it brimming with snake awakening melodic bass, squelchy synth lines, seductive vocals and psychedelic pulse.

What you’ll learn:
We know exactly how it feels to be where you are (it wasn’t that long ago for us either), and we’ve created the program we wished for when we started out. This 5 week course is a deep dive into what we consider the needed vocabulary as your solid foundation to reach your next desired destination and it’s designed for practicing on Pioneer controllers using Rekordbox.
Finding your Frequency: Djing is so much more than technique and pressing bottons. It’s music! It has to be felt through your body. Throughout the course we work on your unique frequency as a DJ. Prepere yourself to step forward sister, showing yourself to the world through your music.
Cue Button & Hot Cues: Take control of your tracks with understanding the Cue button and get creative with your hot cues.
Loops, Pads & Beat Jumps: Get to know your controller in depth and discover how looping and the use of beat jumps for seamless transitions. We will go through the controller so you confidently know your way around.
Musicality & Genres: Understand genres and exploring your DJ sound as well as discovering the art of blending and making mash-ups.
Mixed in Key: Learn how to mix harmonically, ensuring your sets are smooth and coherent.
Building the Perfect Set: From organizing your music i Rekordbox, building a journey, to reading the crowd. We touch base on all element that makes a memorable live performances. Recording & Feedback is key elements as you prepare DJ sets so you can refine your sound and receive feedback.
Your First DJ Gig: Imagine a full house of dancing people vibing to your music. Damn…. Get ready sister, we are serious about your journey. Are you?
